Sorry everyone - my cashmere shoalwater is on hold yet again!!
I have to do the flower basket in the next 5-6 weeks for a birthday, and I have also been asked to make loads of headbands - ideal apparently for snowboarding!!

I really want to get back to my shawl, it's beautifully soft and a pretty colour, but I've got to get my priorities right just now!!

I'll check back to have look at progress with everyone else's achievements, and post when I'm abole to pick it up again.

Mongrel's Shawl :o)

Mongrel says "This shows my shawl at the end of chart A.
I'm just coming to the end of chart B now, actually, but it looks much the same !!
I'm using Lane Borgosesia Cashwool in "denim" shade, and 3.75mm Denises.
My official aim is to finish in time to wear it for a formal Scottish Country Dance on June 12th, but to be honest if I finish before I die of old age that will be a nice supprise !! :-)"
Keep going M you'll get there!

The Feather & Fan is finished.

Whilst this is not a true Shoalwater, I thought you might be interested to see the finished Feather & Fan shawl from Folk Shawls. It is essentially the same pattern as the Shoalwater but instead of being a triangular shape it is a rectangle and it's over a different number of stitches, the effect is somewhat different.

Sorry Joanne the one on your blog isn't showing either, you can pm it to me via the Angel Yarn forum and I'll have a go if you like or if you want my email addy pm me for that too :o)#

I want to see your shawl :o(

Finished

Hi every one.
Just thought that i would let you know that I have finished my shawl.
I have blocked it and worn it my DH admired it so, it must be nice. I am having an operation this Thursday on my right eye but as soon as I stop looking like Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribiean I am going to block it again there was something that I wasn't quite sure about in the shaping of it. So I will post more photos when its had its second blocking. I have enough wool left over to knit a pair of socks which I have started and completed one sock and the other one is on the needles, My DH had a visit to the dentist this week and I took my knitting with me by the end of his session my needles were red hot ha ha.
The photo I have taken has got our Brown British short haired cat walking over
it so its got his seal of approval he is called Buster
I hope every one else has enjoyed knitting the Shoal water as much as I have.
But I'm not sure if I want to do another in a hurry.

Chugging along

I am now around row 48 for the penultimate time. The rows must be about 350 stitches long. At this stage it is rather like knitting a surprise item for yourself, because although I can stretch out a little of the fabric to see the lace pattern, it is a long time since I was able to flatten out the shawl to get a view of it in its entirety. I am definitely excited to see how it will look when it is finished.
As others have observed before me, lacework looks like a pile of rags (or at least, mine does!) while it is being knitted, and blocking is the final moment of magic. I've never blocked anything before but love the feel and drape of the fabric I am knitting up. I only hope that it looks as good as it feels when it is done.
